Course 1
Monday- Students finished up their work in stations on solving linear equations and writing linear equations in standard, point-slope, and slope-intercept form.
Tuesday- We did an activity called "Life-Size Coordinate Plane" where the classroom floor was transformed into an x-y plane. Students had to plot 2 points and find the equation of the line that passed through their point and 3 other students'.
Wednesday- Students were given a quiz on writing the equation of a line. They were also assigned a study guide on Linear Equations. The study guide will be checked-in on Monday.
Thursday- Students worked in groups according to how they ranked their study guide questions:
O (I can do this on my own)
P (I can do this with a partner)
T (I need help from the teacher)
Friday- NO SCHOOL
Homework: Study Guide (due Monday 11/14/11)
Course 3
Monday- Students finished their Exponential Functions activities from Friday. Guided notes were given for Logarithmic Functions (see handout below).
Tuesday- Students worked on practice problems for logarithmic functions in the form of a relay race. Students were split up in 3 teams and had to complete 5 problems that were spread around outside.
Wednesday- Students were given a practice quiz and worked on more log problems.
Thursday- Exponential/Logarithmic Functions Quiz
Friday- NO SCHOOL
Homework: Study the guided notes and practice problems for exponential and logarithmic functions. Quiz Thursday!

Week of October 31, 2011
Course 1
Monday- Students finished their in-class projects on cell phone plans (see handout below) and put the finishing touches on their presentation posters. Those who were finished early got a headstart on their homework (practice with solving multi-step equations). Students will present tomorrow.
Tuesday- Students presented their projects.
Wednesday- Students conducted data analysis on each cell phone plan. They were asked to find the number of minutes that would cause the plans to have the same cost. We also discussed how the slope of the plan rate changes the cost given different situations.
Thursday- Students worked in groups solving equations, and writing linear equations in standard, point-slope, and slope-intercept form.
Friday- Students continued their work from yesterday.
Course 1- Best Cell Phone Plan
Course 3
Monday- Students worked on systems of 3 equations. They were given one problem and were asked to solve it using 3 different methods (matrices, substitution, and elimination).
Tuesday- Students were given time to finish their problem from yesterday, while other students worked on problems in stations ranging from graphing a system of 2 equations to more practice with systems of 3 equations.
Wednesday- Students were given a quiz on systems of 3 equations.
Thursday- We started a new unit that will have students reviewing exponential functions. Guided notes were given, which included several application problems (see handout below).
Friday- Students worked on exponential function activities. There were 3 activities that the students could choose from ("The Magic Penny Problem", "Nuclear Popcorn", or "Money in the Bank").
Homework (over the weekend): 1) Complete application problems from notes 2) Finish in-class activity 3) Complete homework packet (all of the first page; all evens or all odds from last page).
Guided Notes (Exponential Functions)
