Week of September 10, 2012

Monday: We went over the homework that was assigned on Friday to make sure everyone understood how to write the Trig Ratios.  Then, students were introduced to ways of finding parts of triangles (sides and angles) using the Law of Sines and Law of Cosines.
Homework: Make sure the handout from Friday is complete and study the trig ratios and formulas!

Tuesday: Students worked through a Collaborative Annotation activity for the Law of Sines and Cosines.
Homework: Go through the examples from class and see if you can follow along with the solution process.  Also, make sure that you are memorizing the formulas for the Law of Sines and Law of Cosines.  You should be prepared to explain the reasons to use a certain law based on given information.

Wednesday: Students continued working through the Collaborative Annotation activity, and then we discussed their solutions as a class.
Homework: Law of Sines and Cosines Review Worksheet (complete 3-4 problems with work shown on a separate sheet of paper).  Also, remember that Unit 1 Test corrections are due tomorrow (Thursday 9/13/12)!!!

Thursday: We worked through additional practice problems for Law of Sines and Law of Cosines.  Also, students were assigned their portfolio project on the Applications of Law of Sines and Law of Cosines (please see separate blog post for a copy of the handouts).  If students scored an 80% or above on the Unit 1 Test, they were assigned Level B for the portfolio, and if they scored anything below 80%, they were assigned Level A.  However, Level B is available for all students to attempt.
Homework: Complete 3-4 more problems from Wednesday's homework.  It will be checked in on Friday along with all other classwork and handouts that have been assigned for this unit (Similarity & Congruence, Trig Ratios, and Law of Sines & Cosines).

Friday: Students were given a quiz on Trig Ratios and the Law of Sines & Cosines.
Homework: Start on your project!
