hey mrs. mcculough.. the problems for the bottom row the ones that are suposed to be homework ... they are all the same .. so either i have a keen eye or you made a type-o ... thanks Kendall 1st block
ReplyDeleteThe investigations are different, but the homework is all the same...so yes, you have a keen eye :)
ReplyDeleteok thanks(: ~kendall
ReplyDeleteUm i gotta quearion what are the page numbas in the blue for? why? wat numbas-
ReplyDeleteDa girl that dont write her first name
hey Mrs. M. For the entertainment part question two, when you say what sort of function might modelt this gragh do yu mean rule? like y=ab^x?
ReplyDelete-Molly
oh an for the investagation, do you want us to do the problems on thoose pages or just review them
ReplyDeleteJ.W.: the pages in blue are for the investigations...and yes, you must complete them
ReplyDeleteM.P.: You would tell me if it's a linear or exponential function
Hey Ms.M:) umm i need help with 8b on page 341. um the question is: Experiment with your calculator or computer software to find a function of the form y=b^x (where x is time in days) that matches the pattern in your table.
ReplyDelete-J.J.W.
Um not rushing you but i still need help
ReplyDelete_j.j.w.
J.J.W.: you should have seen my face when I read that last comment, lol...but anywho....you need to enter everything from your table and do an exponential regression (the calculator will do everything for you)...just like we did yesterday for the checkpoint quiz...let me know if you need the steps
ReplyDeletei need the steps and i dont get number 13 on page 311
ReplyDeleteJ.J.W
is 14 15 16 the same im so far up the creek a paddle wouldnt help, so will you? im lost
ReplyDeleteJ.J.W.
Steps for Exponential Regression:
ReplyDelete1) Go to "STAT", then choose "Edit"
2) Enter your values from the table into L1 and L2
3) Go back to "STAT", scroll over to "CALC"
4) Scroll down to #0 ExpReg (Exponential Regression)
5) Press "ENTER" twice...you will see what you need to plug in for y = ab^x
Steps to see a Scatter-plot
1) Enter your values from the table just like in steps 1-2 above.
2) Go to "Y=" and clear everything out
3) Make sure Plot1 is turned on
4) Go to "Zoom", choose #9 ZoomStat (this will show you the shape of the graph so that you know which regression to do...you will need to do this for most of the problems you asked about)
Let me know if this helps at all...
14-16 are all about the properties, so you need to do the investigations first...but don't worry so much about the properties because we will do a lesson on those together to make sure everyone understands
ReplyDeleteumm okay supa slash face status im real real lost but umm yeah
ReplyDeleteDo as much as you can with the other problems and we will talk about the properties in class...relax! (I can just imagine the face you're making)
ReplyDeletehaha i wish you would see it (the supa mad stressed mad some more face) how u gon say relaxx when its due tomorrow!?!
ReplyDeleteYour investigations and homework are due at the end of class, but your presentations don't have to be ready until Monday...but I'll just go ahead and tell you my plan...I'm going to just go around and check the homework...you all will be able to keep it so that you can put the finishing touches on it so you can be ready to present next week
ReplyDeleteum im starting to feel stupid. i dont understand how to do the (3/5)^3= 3^x/5^y...wtfeezzy is this stuff? my sisster dont even know how to do this stuff and she just graduated highschool last year
ReplyDeleteDon't feel stupid...some people have learned about the properties in other math classes and others haven't...so like I said before, don't worry about that part...just finish the problems from your other 2 categories. We'll go over the rest of the stuff as a class....DIDN'T I TELL YOU TO RELAX!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Ms. McCullough, What is an equivalent exponent?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Benjamin Raposa, 4th hour.
Hi Ben! An equivalent exponent is the answer you get once you simplify the expression using the properties we talked about the other day. If you're doing the investigations or homework, there are different directions for each of them, so if this doesn't answer your question, let me know the specific problem you're working on.
ReplyDeleteHi Ms.McCullough. What are your tutoring hours in the morning, in reference to ewhen I would need to arrive at school? Thank you, Benjamin Raposa, 4th hour
ReplyDeleteay this i s cameron i dont get how you got the numbers for the home work the entertament one and its on the last page yea so i see what it says and im just confused on the total gross please heeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllpppppppppppp mmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (country sound)
ReplyDeleteBen: I don't have formal tutoring hours in the morning since we have our daily staff meetings, but I usually have some time from around 10-10:30 before class starts...the best time is during lunch or after school on Tuesdays or Thursdays...so it's up to you whenever you want to stop by. Also, I mentioned that there are student tutors. I can give you more information about that if you're interested in that too.
ReplyDeleteCameron: The total gross means the total money that the movie earned (on the y-axis), so they just want you to see which 2 movies Pirates of the Caribbean will be in between (that means which movie will earn a little more money and which movie will earn a little less money)...let me know if this helps at all...
but how do you get the groos cuz i know you add the starting gross to the total but i dont know or get it
ReplyDeleteWhat number are you on?
ReplyDeleteMy phone is dead, but I think you're thinking about the question too hard...They already give you the total gross on the graph...talking you through it would probably be confusing too, so just come see me first thing in the morning before class starts...if you don't have everything finished by then, I will let you present on Wednesday, that way if you need extra time we can work on it at lunch. Does that work for you?
ReplyDeletethe last page on the enterament thing
ReplyDeleteI have a Qustion.... I was at a funeral to night and just got back and im not done with my part of the project and i wont be able to finish it to nigh... so will i get points off?
ReplyDeleteJust finish it tomorrow and you and Shane can present on Wednesday since we won't get through everyone tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteok thank you
ReplyDeleteyou're welcome
ReplyDeleteHi Ms. McCullough. Do the rules on the direction as far as what needs to be included apply to the exponent investigations as well?Thank you, Benjamin Raposa, 4th hour.
ReplyDeleteum i gosta question!(3/5)^3 i cant find no example for dat...how you do it???
ReplyDelete-kid that goes hard
okay... in the second investigation for properties.. im confused on number 1... (3/5)^3 = 3^x/5^y... its on page 332
ReplyDeleteBen: You only have to answer the questions like regular homework for the investigations...the additional rules only apply to the activities that were not in the book.
ReplyDeleteJoclyen & Auri: The property is called "power to a quotient"...it's just like the "power to a product" where the exponent is applied to each number...so your answer would be (3/5)^3= 3^3/5^3, and you would tell me that x=3 and y=3....does that make sense?
And just for the record "kid"...you WERE rushing me...I do have a life, ya know!
ReplyDeleteso basically whatever the exponent is... thatll be x and y? so like for part b... (c/n)^2 = c^2/5^2?
ReplyDeleteyup!
ReplyDeletealrighty... thanks(:
ReplyDeletei know you gotta life and i do too:)but the math work is holdin me up :/ And i aint mean to rush U cause i coulda been worsum and continued posting until you replied:) (i really wouldnt do that)... lets just say i aint mean to "rush" u...ya know! (im unhappy now just for a record)
ReplyDelete-the kid that still dont get how to do the problem
It's ok...I'm not mad at you:) But what don't you understand? You just have to distribute the exponent to the numerator and denominator...didn't we do a problem like that earlier today? or maybe I wrote that on somebody else's sticky note...
ReplyDeleteokay glad u aitn mad that was shanna stick note like how do you do it like do you distribute first then divide or like divide den distribute cause i dont know
ReplyDelete-kid thats happpy u not mad lol
For that specific problem, they just want you to give the value for x and y...that's it, that's all...you're thinking about it too much....you would only go further if they asked you to simplify it or something...
ReplyDeleteso the problem is (3/5)^3=3^x/5^y...the property tells you to distribute the exponent to the power of the numerator and denominator....so it ends up being 3^3/5^3, so you would say that x=3 and y=3...THAT'S IT!!! DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER!!!
BUT if you want to know how to simplify it...3^3=27 and 5^3=125, so your final answer would be 27/125.
Does this make any sense?
thanks i think it dont make as much sense because i cant see you and the sticky note but i think i got it
ReplyDelete-kid that likes stcky notes better than blogging
Ms. McCullough,
ReplyDeleteMy partner did not do anything on the project and I would feel uncomfortable firing her so I got all of the work dumped on me. What do you want me to do because I am not ready to present to you tomorrow because only half the work is done.
Come talk to me before 1st hour, but go ahead and prepare your presentation on the half that you completed...we'll worry about the rest later.
ReplyDeleteThank You soooo much Ms. McCullough that helps A LOT!
